Do the new pokemon games have the old pokemon?

I mean from the Kanto generation. I recently found my old pokemon blue game and like old times I was getting into it. I was thinking of getting a new Pokemon game but I wasnt sure which to get. Should i get gold and silver? or pokemon crystal? Or pokemon platinum? The most important thing for me when getting any of the new games is if I can use the old Pokemon from the Kanto games...if not, I wont bother getting any of the new games. I hate the 1000 new pokemon they introduced. Its ridiculous to keep up with.|||I recommend you get Pok茅mon Platinum as well as HeartGold or SoulSilver. You'll enjoy these the most as they are the most recent games of Game Freak.|||Yes you can but not all of them will be available from the start. If you get the National Dex you can see every pokemon that was in the old games. If you want them all from the start, get an old game and catch the old ones. If you don't mind little by little you can get the new games.|||Yes, they broke off back-compatibility with Ruby/Sapphire, that's why everyone hated the 3rd generation. However as the others said, HGSS is a great choice to reminisce, and if you have the systems, Crystal is great as well as FireRed and LeafGreen.|||Well you can get Black and White, which is actually supposed to have totally new pokemon at first, but the olders one might be catchable later.|||All new games have the Kanto pokemon but no game beyond Crystal can communicate with Blue.|||Yes, all of the new Pok茅mon games such as Ruby, Sapphire, FireRed, LeafGreen, Emerald, Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, HeartGold, SoulSilver and the upcoming games of Black and White have the Kanto Pok茅mon in it however you can't get them in Black and White until after you defeat the Elite 4. You should get whatever game you want to get but to help you decide, here's some info for each game.

Ruby and Sapphire take place in the Hoenn region. This mostly features Pok茅mon from the 3rd Generation so you won't see much Pok茅mon from the previous 2 Generations. Emerald is pretty much the same thing only some 2nd Generation (Johto) Pok茅mon are added into the game.

FireRed and LeafGreen are remakes of the original Pok茅mon Red and Pok茅mon Green (it was Pok茅mon Red and Pok茅mon Blue in all non-Japanese countries though.) Some Johto Pok茅mon have been added into the game due to them being remakes.

Diamond and Pearl take place in the Sinnoh region. This features mostly on the Sinnoh Pok茅mon. There are some Kanto Pok茅mon available but some of them aren't unavailable until after you defeat the Champion. Pok茅mon Platinum is pretty much the same thing as "Diamond" and "Pearl."

"Pok茅mon HeartGold" and "Pok茅mon SoulSilver" are remakes of the original "Pok茅mon Gold," "Pok茅mon Silver" and "Pok茅mon Crystal" however a lot more of the Kanto Pok茅mon have been added into the game compared to the original Gold, Silver and Crystal games.

However keep in mind that Ruby, Sapphire, FireRed, LeafGreen and Emerald are Gameboy Advance systems but they can also be played on the orgiinal Nintendo DS system as well as the Nintendo DS Lite. Pok茅mon Diamond, Pok茅mon Pearl, Pok茅mon Platinum, Pok茅mon HeartGold, Pok茅mon SoulSilver and the upcoming games of Pok茅mon Black and Pok茅mon White can only be played on NIntendo DS systems.|||I agree with you, the older ones you grew up with do seem to be better. I know you can trade them over if both games are GBA or GB format. And I know after you get the 8 badges you get access to a facility that lets you plug your other game into your GBA slot and somehow recatch them...not to sure what exactly it does though seeing as how I never did that.

All the games do have pokemon from the first generation in them, but not all of them are catchable.

A easy solution would be to hack the ones you want into the game with a action replay device if you have one. You could just add them into your pcbox, I know I have done that a few times. In Soul silver I didn't like the starters so I started with a charmander instead of any do there choices.

If you do try a new pokemon game, Heart gold and Soul Silver are great options. they have some cool new features and alot of content. There are 8 badges to get, then you revisit the older region and get to recollect the 8 badges from the first game again but against stronger trainers. I thought it was neat refighting misty and some of the others.
